Redmi Note 7 : Meet The New Mid-Range King


We all know what Xiaomi has done with its Redmi Note series in the Indian market. Now Redmi, after becoming an Independent sub-brand of Xiaomi,  making the headlines with the launch of new Note smartphone aka Redmi Note 7 under the branding ‘Redmi by Xiaomi’.
This Redmi Note 7 is the first phone launched under the “independent” Redmi brand.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has announced that from now on Redmi will operate as a separate brand from Mi. Jun also tell that all the phones launching under the Redmi brand will come at the affordable price range and focus mainly on online sales.
While on the other hand, the Mi or Xiaomi brand will focus more on the launching of flagship grade smartphones.


So, as per the declaration Note 7 comes at the most affordable price range, not only that it also includes a 48MP sensor in the dual rear camera set up, USB type-C port, headphone jack, glass gradient finish on the back with fetching colors and many more.Redmi Note 7 detail features

Though it has already been launched in Chinese market, so we have collected some more information this mid-range killer smartphone for you.

Body design

Unlike the Redmi series smartphones, new Note 7 comes with a whole new design concept, which has made some serious alterations compared to the previous Redmi Note models.
It has a metal aluminum body with 2.5D curved glass and glossy gradient finish on the back that adds a premium look to it, which you want to watch over and over again.
It might feel little heavy as it weighs about 186g but fits solid in your palm with dimensions 159.2×75.2×8.1mm.
The punch hole design is on hype but the notch display design is still on trend. However, the new Note 7 comes with a water-drop notch and thin bezels around the large 6.3-inch display.

Now Note 7 become the first phone of Redmi Note series that comes with water-drop style notch on front.
If you take a closer look at the notch, you can see a slightly larger cut-out between the top bezel and the glass panel that holds the earpiece.
The bottom part of the phone houses two speaker grills to fire out sound at decent volume and a USB type-C port, yes! type-C port.
The 3.5mm headphone jack is now shifted its position and placed at the top part of the phone as we saw in Honor View 20.
The volume rocker and the power button are placed on the right side of the phone just at comfortable of your reach. On the left, there is the SIM tray with a dedicated slot for Micro SD card.
On the back, there is a fingerprint sensor placed above the middle section of the phone. The rear camera unit is vertically aligned at the top left corner of the device and a LED flash also placed just below the set-up in order to improve low light photos.

Display

The Redmi Note 7 comes with 19:5:9 aspect ratio type 6.3-inch full HD Plus large display of resolution 1080×2340 pixels and 409 ppi pixel density.
Redmi claims that the side bezels are just 0.8mm thick in order to give you full view experience. You will find the chin is little thicker which might come in the way of full view but not that much as the screen comes perfectly in size.

The display carries some other pleasant features like 450 nits brightness, 1500:1 contrast ratio, sun legibility, eye protection mode and most importantly corning gorilla glass 5 to protect it against odd drops.

Camera and sensor

Here comes the main attraction of this mid-range smartphone and that is the AI-powered dual camera setup on back.
The dual camera houses in a protruding module one is the 48MP primary sensor of aperture f/1.8 and other is 5MP secondary sensor of aperture f/2.4 for depth capturing.
Redmi has used the Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor in the 48MP module and claims that with this Samsung powerful sensor helps Note 7 to capture poster-level HD photos.
Redmi also added some magnificent camera features like super night mode, Quad Bayer filter, PDAF, AI-portrait mode, AI-bokeh mode, HDR, ESI, recording video @1080p, dual LED flash support and many more.
In the daytime, it can use super-resolution techniques to output 48MP photos with 0.8μm pixels.
In low light conditions, the phone uses 4-in-1 pixel binning technique to simulate larger 1.6μm pixels and take photos with an effective resolution of 12MP.
On the front inside the notch Redmi Note 7 houses a 13MP selfie shooter with a larger pixel of 1.6 Micron. It also equipped with features like AI face unlock, AI smart beauty, AI single shot blur, front HDR, background blur and more.
From a midrange smartphone point of view Note, 7 has included enough camera features both on front and back sensors to give you picture perfect photos all the time.
Along with the rear-mount fingerprint sensor, Redmi Note 7 also include a gyroscope, accelerometer, distance sensor, electronic compass, ambient light sensor, vibration motor, and an infrared sensor.

Processor and performances

Redmi Note 7 is powered by 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with Adreno 512 GPU for better graphical performances which will help the games to run smoothly without any lag.
Redmi also claims that the Note 7 even outscored the Honor 8X smartphone which is powered by Kirin 710, in AnTuTu benchmarks.

Software

The company has confirmed that Note 7 will roll over latest MIUI 10 based Android 9 Pie.
Where many mid-range smartphones are in the queue to get the latest iteration of Android, Redmi Note 7 getting it already.
As the Android 9 Pie is something like out of the box that brings many useful features for users, so it is a great advantage over the competition in the mid-range smartphone lineup.

Battery and connectivity

The Redmi Note 7 backed with an impressive 4000mAh battery under the hood.
This is also the first Redmi phone to come with USB type-C port which supports quick change 4.0.
If you charge it with the regular 10W charger that comes in the box, it takes around 2h5min to fully charged.
However, if you manage to purchase an 18W fast charger separately that will completely charge the phone in just 1h45min.
Redmi claims that if once the phone is fully charged it will last up to 251 hours of standby time, 23 hours of talk time, 13 hours of video playback, and 7 hours of gaming.
In terms of connectivity Redmi Note 7 include a USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, 4G VoLTE, GPS, AGPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth v5, and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac.

RAM and storage

Xiaomi Launched the Redmi Note 7 in three different variants.
The base variant comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.
The next one comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
And finally, the top end variant comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
As there is a dedicated Micro SD card slot is available, you can expand your storage up to 256GB without any hassle.

Color, price and release date

The Redmi Note 7 will be available in three different colors and that are Twilight Gold, Fantasy Blue, and Bright Black color options.
The glossy glass gradient finish on the back with these colors will make it more attractive and surely drags a lot of attention.
In the Chinese market, the price of Redmi Note 7 starts at
CNY 999 (around ₹10,300) for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant.
CNY 1,199 (around ₹12,400) For the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant.
CNY 1,399 (around ₹14,500) For the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant.
The sale of Note 7 has started in the Chinese market from 15 January but there is no clearance made by the company on the phone’s global or India launch.
Keeping on eye on the success of previous Redmi Note models, it can say that Note 7 will hit the Indian smartphone market very soon.
